ADAPT | with Healthy Options
ADAPT is a 12-week Ageing Well programme that helps people improve strength, balance and confidence so they can stay active, steady and independent.
Delivered by experienced members of our specialist team, the programme focuses on falls and frailty prevention through safe, structured group exercise and one-on-one support.
ADAPT may be suitable for people who:
Experience reduced strength or balance
Have had a fall
Feel unsteady or have a fear of falling
Are becoming less mobile or active and would benefit from support to rebuild strength and confidence
Participants are supported to improve mobility and confidence, reduce their risk of falling, and maintain independence and wellbeing.
Accessing ADAPT
ADAPT is accessed through referral from a GP or Allied Health Professional
Contribution
We suggested a contribution of £30 per month membership fee. However, no one will ever be turned away due to financial circumstances.
Service Update
For many years ADAPT has supported people in our community through specialist exercise rehabilitation following illness, injury or the diagnosis of long-term health conditions.
ADAPT has been partially funded by the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) for a number of years. To maintain the service at its current level, Healthy Options has supplemented this funding through grants, fundraising and other external income.
As a charity, relying on short-term external funding to sustain this level of delivery is not financially sustainable in the long term. From April 2026, the ADAPT service will therefore focus specifically on falls and frailty prevention, aligning delivery more closely with the level of funding currently available.
The programme will continue to support people to improve strength, balance and confidence so they can stay active and independent.
